I am trying to narrow my order from MyPetChicken down, (It's not going too well! :p) and am wondering which is a better layer - Silver Cuckoo Marans or Welsummers. I like the dark eggs of each, but can only get one of the two. So, who lays more eggs, and how long does their production last? How friendly are they in comparison to each other?

Being they will be hatchery stock I'd go with the Marans. Your not going to get the really dark eggs from hatchery so go with the Marans as it's darker.

They are both about the same in terms of production and temperament.
