So I may break my waterfowl only streak and get some chickens again. I show a bit and belong to Livestock Conservency, APA, etc. Here is my 'dream list' (that I may or may not be able to stick too, lol). 1) possible dual purpose or meat bird, 2) Pretty or interesting looking (in the eye of the beholder I know, not big on white feathered birds ) 3) will set or Broodiness, at least as they mature.... also considering Bantams for show, prettiness or unusual looking, broodiness maybe.... I guess I am asking which ones that fit most parameters and really are in need of breeders?

Picking chicken breeds is really a personal thing based on what you like and don't like. I prefer Orpingtons, barnevelder, and cochins, both standard and bantam. So you have to ask yourself what you like in a chicken breed as far as color, comb type, and feathering, and go from there.

Buckeyes! I raise bantam Buckeyes, and they meat all those rather broad criteria.
They’re rare and unusual, come in a lovely color, and large fowl go broody. Both large fowl and bantam Buckeyes make good meat birds. The bantams do not go broody, however, so maybe they wouldn’t meet that.

thanks, I get varying info on traits... so I am narrowing it down, then asking specific breeders those traits....unlike Ducks and Geese there are soooooooo many choices..
