which BREEDER has the best blue laced red wyandottes?

Hands down it's Foley's If you read Paul's site he allows for single combs..I don't know about you but try to sell a single comb blrw roo and see how it works..that $9.50 chick at hatch with a single comb isn't worth half of that I have a pen full of them if anyone wants some..not Foley's

As Mrs Trubo says they have BIG birds..we have several of theirs I bought when they sell started pairs..and I already have my order in for chicks..I live way too close to them for my own good.

Don't get me wrong...I love my Foley birds, they are beautiful, but Out of 20 chicks I did get several that were single combs, I think it is inevitable that the single combs will crop up in this color variety of Wyandotte's.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the OP is looking for Bantam BLRW's.

Hey Danny,

sorry you got some single comb....it is still something we are working out of our flock. You must have got the bad box

Anytime someone orders chicks from us and they get a single comb we do offer a refund on those chicks or give you a credit on your next box. We do our best to ship some extra chicks so sometimes they cancel each other out. To us.....if it is a single comb, can't sell it as a Wyandotte and that is not what the customer ordered. the good news is we have hatched about 100 BLRWs so far in 2011 and we haven't had a single comb chick yet. We have been doing selective breeding the last few years to weed out the single comb carriers and our fertility is still going strong.

the bantam BLRWs are very cool by the way. There are people here on BYC that run auctions now and then for eggs.

As I said I am extremely pleased with your birds, I was under the impression from others on here that it supposedly increases fertility and can be a good thing, personally I culled all the single combs and all of the chicks that have hatched from my eggs so far have all been rose comb as far as I know. I may be ordering a second batch of chicks from you in March or April.
I was looking for you at the Ohio Nationals, I must have left as you and your husband arrived.
You all do an awesome job with Wyandotte's

I know.....and thanks for the kind words. There is a lot of controversy over the single comb issue, but we don't hatch any single comb chicks at all from our bantam Black Wyandottes or our standard Blues and Blacks and fertility has never been a problem. I think the confusion is the sperm is slower and doesn't stay alive as long as the single comb birds so sometimes you have to breed a lower rooster/hen ratio. Some birds can handle 12 or more hens just fine, but we dont usually go over 10 hens per rooster. If you decide to order more birds remind me and I will add 3 more to the box or discount you 3 chicks.

That is kinda what I thought to....you don't see it in the other color varieties.
Thank you for the offer of the extra chicks or the discount, I look forward to doing business with you again.
Best of luck with all of your poultry endeavors,
Brent

Here is what we mention on our site.
•Q- We received a single combed Wyandotte in a shipment from you. Can you tell me if they are any good for breeding or showing?
A- Single combs show up in all Wyandotte lines and can be directly related to fertility. Many Wyandotte breeders will tell you to breed out the single comb is to breed out fertility. We do on occasion use single comb pullets in our breeding pens but advise that if at all possible avoid using a single comb male as he will quickly bring up the ratio of single comb offspring. We have found that a good ratio is 10% to 15% single comb offspring is an acceptable amount. A single comb is a disqualification in the show pen.

We currently have no single combed Wyandottes on our farm.
HBuehler did you get a pen full on single comb Wyandottes from us at $9.50 a chick? We would gladly give you a 100% refund if you received a "pen full" of single combs from us. I looked though our records and we never shipped to Lebanon TN
Also if you do get single combs from us they are usually the free or extra birds that we include. If we have wronged you HBuehler we are truly sorry.
Jesse Paul
