which breeds are the friendilst

My two buff colored (yellowish color as chicks) EEs are very sweet and tame, much more than my other EEs with stripes that looked like chipmunks. The buff EEs are also laying relatively large beautiful bluish green eggs, as large as my BR's.

I have limited experience, but my RSL is much sweeter than my RIRs. They tolerate me, but the RSL runs up and follows me around when they are out free ranging (supervised).

in my own personal experience my friendliest chickens have been my buff orpingtons and my cochins. i had a buff orpington hen named Sunny that would follow me around, loved to be petted, was easy to pick up, and would take treats out of my hands. unfortunately i lost her to a coyote attack. my friendliest chicken ever is by far my current rooster. he is a splash color giant cochin and his name is Splish(my avitar is a pic of him when he was younger). he is such a sweety. he will follow me around and loves attention. if i am sitting in one of the lawn chairs he will jump into my lap and let me pet him. he loves treats and is just a big fluffy teddy bear. my 5 year old daughter will pick him up and carry him around. its funny to watch because he is huge compared to her. normally i would never trust a rooster around a small child but Splish doesnt have a mean bone in his body.

I have production reds, barred rocks, and 1 red sex link. My barred rocks are braver and therefore friendlier, and they're also much smarter than the production reds.

I think our friendliest birds are our Mille fleur. Doesnt like to be caught but when we do she is soooo sweet. She sits on my daughters shoulder. Our Aracauna and blue andalusian are the most standoffish. The buff orp is pretty friendly too. Our turken roo likes to follow us around but doesnt like to be held.

My DD has 3 silkies and 1 cochin frizzle hen...out of the bunch the white frizzle hen is the sweetest and lets me pet her. Her name is Angel because thats what she looked like when her feathers started to come in

Im very new to chickens, and have only been around Red sex links, golden sex links, black sex links and a buff orpington/wyandotte mix. My BO mix is afraid of me, she will bolt at any chance she gets, her name is meep. My GSL is a sweetie, she runs when I try to catch her but there have been a few times she'd just let me hold her and pet her. She was great about letting me hold her when she was a baby and yesterday it was very hot and I think she didnt want to waste the energy it would take to run so she let me hold her LoL. My BSL is also afraid of me, but I think I just haven't tried to pet her enough. It has been so hot that if they wont let me pet them I dont push the issue. They'd get too hot running away from me, and I dont want to be thought of as the giant crazy woman chasing them around scaring them. My RSL's are sweet and even my 5 year old can pick them up and carry them around. My RSL roo is one of the sweetest birds I have, my 5 year old will tuck him under her arm like a football and just carry him around. In my opinion the sex links are the sweetest but I have very limited experience with anyother breeds. It also has a lot to do with how much & how you handle them when they are chicks. Some breeds are just very flighty & shy but I have been told even the most outgoing friendly breeds will be standoffish if you dont handle them or interact with them.

I have three Barred Rocks and three Rhodies. My Rhodies are pretty aloof but my Rocks are sweethearts. When I sit in the yard they all come by for a visit. Sometimes I find myself with all three sitting on me.

Well! i went to the monthly poultry market on the 17th and couldnt resist another Lavender Pekin with 2 3week old chicks ,i dont know why i bought them because my other pair are not very friendly and dont wont to be held but there you go ,and i was just on my way back to the car when i spotted a guy selling Buff and white Orpingtons ,so i bought 1 of each and i have to say ..they are amazeing ,i cant believe they are so friendly ,they follow me around not for treats but just to be beside me unlike the xbattery girls who when they see you have nothing for them wander off ,so these are the breed i would love to have more of ,they deffinatly get the thumbs up .
Thanks for all the suggestions .
