which breeds lay speckled eggs?

Sometimes my green eggs have brown specks but if you soak them a few minutes they wash off. Some of the brown eggs do the same. I have had a couple brown eggs that all the brown will come off. I don't know why that happens.

The hen in my avatar lays an almost pink egg with bigger than normal white speckles all over that I think is beautiful, sometimes they almost look laced. But not every time. Sometimes the speckles are so small you can't see them well. Then my barred rock sometimes puts dark specks on them. Depends on the bird, like they said, and not every time.

On the brown coming off, I think the brown is only on the outside part of the shell. On of my pullets sometimes lays an almost white egg with a really thin shell. When the shell has a normal thickness, it's the brown it should be. I can see where if that outer layer is not very thick it might come off. The spots on quail eggs come right off if you wash them well. They're only 'painted' on. Could be the brown in brown eggs is sort of painted on the same way.
