*shrug*

I could get more, but it wouldn't be fair to them because the zoo is pretty full right now. We need more room for more clucks. Rather keep it manageable and do the best we can for them until we can get some acreage.
"Well, I can't figure out just two, so let's just pretend you opened 200!"

There are several chicken breeds that I feel like I need to have in my life.

Silkies are not one of them.

I'm just glad Moony said it first, so I know who I can get behind when the all the angry silkie people start throwing things! lol
There are several of us here that are not silkie lovers

Looks like they all made it through the night. I'm keeping a little CFL bulb on at night till they get a little bigger to ward off the rodents that will eat chicks. This evening I'll probably split them into their respective kelso and grey breeds.

Also got a couple throwbacks from the kelso side looks like someone's cross/infusion of choice was redquill. That's apparent by the 2 in the upper right (and center top) with the striping on thier faces. To me I would agree it's a good move

Ummmm.....???
I know it’s confusing because of my username. I really liked Silkies at the time but now I don’t.
I really don’t like Silkies. They don’t lay enough eggs, the eggs are small and they look HORRIBLE when they’re molting. Not even going to start how hard it is to get mites out of those feathers. Or scaly leg mites. Or poop stuck to those feathers. No.

I’m not getting anymore Silkies. Silkie crosses- maybe, pure silkies-no.

I do like the birds I have, but honestly they look like plucked feather dusters. Personality is fine but the looks are not. No more Silkies. Or bantams.
