But seriously, @Isadora How does this happen? Who in your flock do you think produced this - very special - bird?
Well this group of chicks is half Easter Egger which isn't a true breed because it can be a bunch of different breeds that have certain characteristics. And they are known for muffs, headpoofs, or beards. And the dad is half silkie, so all of these chicks are 1/4 silkie and silkies are fluffy, headpoofs and feathered legs.
You will see tons of variety when you hatch eggs like this.
Here's the dad with one of my Easter eggers. None of my Easter eggers have muffs or beards, but a few of them have the head poof.

I gotcha! That really is so interesting though, like a real live box of chickeny chocolates! lol

Noticed some bumps on one of my hen's comb. I'm hoping its not dry pox. I just got done with Mycoplasma. Least my 2nd flock is staying healthy.
I also have a continuing problem with my hen's hiding their eggs. They're not consistent in their hiding process. Have to go egg hunting every day. Does not help that the grass/mustard is now 5 feet tall.

You know that MG doesn't go away, right?

If you post a pic of the comb I can give you my 2 cents.

I know it doesn't go away. Two weeks ago my entire older flock has "recovered". Hens started laying again and so forth.
So here is a pic of the comb. It's only on one side and I don't see it on anyone else... least as of today.

Oh good. Just making sure!

Breathe easy, those look like peck wounds.

Its all good.. this is just the first year that I am having health issues with my flock. Luckily I catch the issue in time but it is stressful all the same. Not to mention chicks dying.. which is a first as well. Been a crazy year so far.

Probably from the rooster.. he is aggressive! I need to make saddles of my poor ladies. Just a little overly concerned this year.
