I just had the stupidest phone conversation with the unemployment department regarding a past employee who only worked a few days (and then unfortunately covid happened).

"I show they were paid $X for the first week and $X for the second week."

Me: "Correct"

"And they recieved $X for payment in lieu of notice, correct? And do you know if they worked during that time?"

Me: "Well I wasn't here then, but I'm assuming not, since it was paid in lieu".

"......Oh yes, well, I just needed to confirm. And do you know what their weekly earnings were before that?"

Me: "They only worked 6 days"

".....Oh, yes, ok thank you, that's all my questions."


Clearly high intelligence isn't a requirement for that position
