Anyone else ever post pics to one of these contests, then go through to see all the other pics, and feel like you shouldn't have bothered? 😂😂😂

Some peeps on here take incredible photos. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Please don't ever feel like you can't enter because your photos aren't good enough. Judging is very subjective and if your shot is a hit with the judges, you're going to be in contention. Looking at other people's pics and feeling bad or inferior about yours is only going to lead you to giving up, and you'll never give photography the time to develop (see what I did there?) as a passion or serious hobby. Judge your photos against things you took a year ago. See how you've improved. But draw inspiration from other photographers. If you see something they did you like, ask them how they did it. Try to mimic their technique and use it as a way to move your own ability forward. We all start out sucking. We all still think we suck compared to others. Human nature. Don't give up though.

Several of the "incredible photographers" skip contests on purpose so that it's not always the same winners and other folks have a chance. You are just as likely to find them judging as you are to find them competing. They want to inspire and help people improve, not be the reason people don't enter contests. That sucks for them too. :(

Pretty much every time. 😅
You hush. :p

Did you enter a contest that I entered?
Don't worry too much. Although I do take the most incredible pics I'm not a favorite with the powers that be here so you can still win contests that I'm in and obviously have the best pics in.

I decided against entering for another reason. But I love my pics now. I used to take only posed pics, and I was 🤬 if my subject moved or didn't look at me, or there was any kind of obstruction. I used to take lots of horrible pics. But I am happy with the ones I take now. Most of the time now I'm not looking for the light to be just right, or the surroundings to be just so. As I get older I'm preferring everyday, REAL photos. The ones that will trigger a memory down the line.

And because I did pull out of the contest, I wanna post my absolute favorite pic rn.

My lil Swifty looks like a dinosaur peeking out from behind his tomato plant. (yes, I planted tomatoes special for them. For privacy, for shade, and because they can eat the cherry tomatoes as they ripen.) 🥰🥰🥰
