If that is not it, my next guess would be a lichen covered egg sac of some sort, or a mantis ooth I haven't ever seen.

Trust your gut. It's a junk bug! Green Lacewing larvae.

My husband went to NYC years ago. He said he couldn't breathe. I would have to agree, I have no desire to even visit

She shared a 1 bedroom apartment with 3 other people. Her bedroom was the living room. It cost them $4k/month. In 2009.

This was her complex. She was on the 12th floor. There are about the same # of people in that complex than in all three cities in our county. Not an exaggeration.
