Keloids. Very very true. Some people get them due to their body trying to reject though, too.

I studied extensively to be a body piercer. However, I could not find a piercer within 50 miles of my home who would take on an apprentice. Now, I am merely filled with information that has no use in my head. I may as well share it with those who can use it.

Where do I find just the balls? And can I do it myself or should I go back to my piercer?

You should be able to. I have yet to see a captive ring that cannot have the ball changed out.

You can change it on your own if it is an average captive ring. If the ball is welded on, then the entire ring will need to be replaced. Most online body jewelry stores should sell them for a fair price. I would try bodycandy.com first.
