I am not a wife, nor do I believe I ever will be. But if the opportunity ever arose, I would never marry someone who would tell me that I could not have the one thing I wanted after they had seen for themself that I, and I alone, take care of what is mine.
what any married person can tell you, is that nothing in a marriage is 100% your responsibility or their responsibility. everything is a shared commitment, at least some of the time.

the chickens are my wife’s pets. she wanted them. that being said, i oversaw the building of our coop and run, i carry the heavy bags of food to them, i winterize the coop, i built their enclosure. to her credit, she does most everything else for them.

my wife doesn’t care at all about my cars. they’re mine. but she’s had to bring them to the mechanic a few times and get home from running errands because i forgot i scheduled the at-home detailer while i was at work. so she told me if i want a new one i need to get rid of something. no more cars.

she wants goats, but i said no because i don’t want to do any extra work. a flock of chickens, two dogs, and now two kids is enough to worry about for us while we both work full time.

so there’s really not a lot of “his” and “hers” in a marriage, especially when it comes to living things.

The often misidentified true look of the buttermilk gamefowl hen (pullet).
