My dad and husband are the same way.
I think part of my problem is I can't turn my brain off quickly.

I have that problem too, but for me it's ADHD. My brain NEVER effing stops.

I need two hands to even catch the darned things. If I grabbed at it with a scalpel in one hand, I'd probably have an impromptu dissection going on on the front porch.

Question is, would it be the toad or your hand getting dissected?

The toad. I quite like my hands, so I'd sew up any cuts as quickly as possible.

My mother stopped my from running to show my sister a whole chicken eyeball back when I dissected a rooster.

I've been thinking of upgrading to a debriding knife. Might be useful for the larger specimens.

That's so messy, though. I'd be flinging flesh all over the table and myself.
We do keep one in the basement, though, so perhaps I'll use it for urgent amputations some time in the future.
