You could also overwinter them in your basement. Any place the ground temp is above 70F and they can have a basking lamp is fine. The hard part is keeping them penned up when it's frozen out, because they do not hibernate. I would say they're not the ideal pet in Canada, all things considered.They'd be just fine in an indoor terrarium style setup for 5 years or so when they're small, but once they're 25-30 cm long they need to be outside because they grow FAST and will get huge.

My aunt has a 16 year old Sulcata. She lives in northern IL. Scooter gets half of the basement to himself in the cooler months. He gets the whole fenced yard during the warmer months.
