Cockatiels can get night frights and actually die from them. I'm glad you will research some more before you get one, being in the same room as the snake is a big no no. Cockatiels need to be with the family so the living room or family room are good spots

My cockatiel is fine with my dog running around at night. He even calls him "dumb dog" when the dog won't stop, at 3:00 am. You could put your tiel in the livingroom and cover his cage at night with a light sheet

I feel like I spend my entire life juggling dogs and the kids' plates in the playroom. One is good with chickens, one is still a bit excitable. I can't wait.
