It really was. TX is unprepared for that kind of a winter snap. It'd be like a week strait of 49C + in January for you guys.
Not to mention the power grid went down. I don't care where you live, if you don't have heat in the winter, it sucks

Fun fact. Last year a small town in British Columbia called Lytton set records 3 days in a row for the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Canada, topping at 49.5 C. A week later it burnt to the ground in a wildfire. Ain't climate change a blast.

49 is my official "eff this nonsense" point. I won't go outside after that.

I didn't mind the cold snap too bad. Power was out for days and the house was soooo cold, I lost some pecan trees that were hundreds of years old, and a couple of huge oak trees. But because I prepared I didn't lose a single animal, not a chick, goat, cat, rabbit, or piglet.
Quite a few people died unfortunately. My mom was from Colorado so I knew how to keep warm and handle things. Too many people were unprepared 😞

One thing that northerners just don't understand is the humidity. I had an empty bunny barn, covered and wrapped with tarps, that filled with snow and ice. It's so different from the months of cold that other states get

I know that now I am at home it is time to get almost naked. Probably tmi there

Says 103 at the bank. 104 on my Chillers at work. 109 on my truck (though that would have came down if I had to drive further) but it either way it is hot on my side of the river @WallyG74
And it is humid in the South. I can't imagine how you guys survive. Yuck!
