More pics of the 2yr old bay roan mustang.
Like for a long time I was 100% sure he was blue, but you can see the red pigment showing through especially on his face and back.

He looks more blue than Billiam does lol. Yea I think from that he is bay roan but we’ll see what mare and Kathy say

To answer your question genuinely, I was just poking fun before. But bay is simply a black base with the agouti gene. To get bay roan, you add roaning.

Blue roan is black with roaning, so the only thing differentiating blue roan from bay roan is the agouti gene, which restricts black pigment to the points of a horse. Agouti is dominant, so if you added an agouti gene to blue roan you’d get bay roan, there’s no inbetween or a way to have “both.”

Ohhhh okay. But the horse color still looks blue to me even with the bay? Is there a red version?

The roaning looks blue to me too, it’s the base color that determines if it’s bay or blue roan. Kind of confusing lolz but yes there is red roan too
