I have worked jobs like that and was in business and employed people had to do the same thing with them. Individual business owners and/or small businesses have to to do that to survive and thrive.Sorry your employment system sucks
Here you'd get paid double time and a half for working tomorrow
I grew up starting at age 11 working on one of my Dads crews framing houses and apartment buildings in the summer and whenever I was out of school. You got off when it rained and you had no inside work. And you didn’t get paid. You had no taxes taken out or anything else. You were responsible to pay taxes when you filed. We would take Christmas Day off and no pay.
I went into business the same way out of high school for awhile and then decided to go another direction but I still use the skills I acquired to this day.
It was some of the best times of my life and wouldn’t trade it anything just about. Crazy a**ed bunch of guys worked for my Dad he called the Wild Bunch and they were that and I fit right in at a very early age. Of course, my Dad could be a bit wild himself
Wore nothing on the job in the summer but a pair of shorts and tennis shoes. He used to take us all deep sea fishing every year and it was a blast of what I can remember of it lol
Hot, hard work but such good fun times
