When you plant them, the donut hole has to be just right in the hole. If not wholly in the hole, the hole won't make a whole donut. They will float out if not careful, I've been told.We tried that here but I think I planted them too deep.

Mine were the opposite. When put on grass the went through and rooted it all up. They loved to root up chucks, flip them and eat all the roots.Frue.
They dig wallows, and they will dig if there's no grass. But other than that they just eat the grass and donuts and they sleep.
