Let me guess... you are totally worried about your chickens. Especially being a first time chicken mama.

Not particularly. They have warm feather coats. I took them out some warm chicken mash this morning and they loved it. My only concern is keeping the water unfrozen. I have a heated bowl out there so we'll see how it holds up.

250w tank deicer in a bucket with horizontal nipples works really well for me.

i moved them up to a 10gal bucket this year so that i can go a full two weeks without having to fill their water up.

I just saw my mom's call ducks take flight. It was so awesome! I wish I had had my camera ready because it would have been a cool photo. She has her bird pens on the top of a big hill and three of her call ducks took off and did a few huge circles around the property before going back to their pen.
