The best thing about Walmart is that is has a garden section I can go in and side walls I can hug to the hunting fishing section. Since they quit selling ar ammo no need to go anymore

At most Walmarts you can even camp in the parking lots overnight if the locals don't complain.
I never have but sounds great if your traveling. It is also handy if your living in a car or van.
Not all of them are "homeless", some are 'houseless' and on an adventure. (You can do that at lots of Restaurants and Big Box stores though they don't advertise it.)

My sister and brother in law are about there. He's just about retired and gonna get a giant coach bus thing and travel. Contemplating selling thier house.
