Chicks with the slow-feathering genes get like that -- outgrowing their down a little faster than their feathers come in.

It looks weird, but it's normal.

I have seen this with rooster chicks being slow to feather on their wings.

7-Week Update
In my totally newb-ish opinion, I still think I'm dealing with:
1 ISA Brown pullet (Rio)
1 RIR pullet (Daisy)
1 BR pullet (Poppy)
1 Golden Comet pullet (Sunflower)
1 BSL cockerel (Marlowe)

But please see the pics below and offer me second opinions, if you like. I'm a little unnerved by Sunflower's behavior. She bum-rushes the door every time I open it. Seems kinda ballsy for a pullet, but maybe she's just nuts. Meanwhile, Rio posed for her picture like a prima donna, and Poppy was uncooperative (although still the sweetest).

That looks right to me (but I'm not sure about the differences between ISA Brown and Golden Comet, so I don't know whether you have those two correct or swapped.)
