Which chickens do you believe are the LEAST and MOST flighty?

My Buttercups are flighty as all get-out. They were hand-raised along with the rest of the chickens, turned out flighty. They'd rather forage in the woods with the coyotes in the dead of winter than eat bugs in the lawn. I have to keep them penned, last time I let them out to range for a bit, two didn't come back for about a month.

Least flighty, probably the Cochins, although two of the EEs are also quite calm.

I've never owned a really flighty chicken (of the ones I've seen, Sebrights seem the worst), but the flightiest I've ever kept personally were OEGs and Silkies, and they weren't even that bad.

The calmest I've ever kept are my Brahmas, Delawares, and my RIRs--I have a particularly friendly/unflappable strain of those. Total lap chickens by nature (because I don't pet my birds a ton). No empty lap is safe around them; it will soon be occupied by the RIR lap girls. I was actually gleefully watching my brother squirm this evening when he came by for a visit and one of my red girls climbed up onto his lap and craned her neck to see into his face

Discomfiture of non-poultry folks is definitely one of the major plusses of keeping chickens

The two friendliest chickens we've ever owned were my White Leghorn, who followed us around like a puppy (up the barn steps & just walking around outside) she also used to sit on our front porch furniture with us & our Easter Egger chick would let us pick her up and massage her crop every day. She was a sweetie.

We have 3 breeds - NH Reds (The rooster says - "Live free or die"), Silver Lakenvelders and Black Giants.

The Reds are like little puppies. The love to be held and come running whenever we come around.

The Lakenvelders run for cover like you are coming at them with a live grenade.

The Giants don't seem skiddish but also don't like to be bothered that much.

Out of our 12 pullets it's the Silver Spangled Hamburg that is the nut-case. She absolutely HATES to be handled...and they've all been handled since day 1. Here she is....she even looks spooked doesn't she??

I got golden comets when they were 1 1/2 years old. They were not handled before I got them. After they figured out where the treats came from I could pick them up and carry them around. Never seen any others like that. I still have one of them and she is still my baby.
