Which cockerel is better? I think #1. What do you think?

If you are looking to improve what you have I would keep the one with the better comb. Getting the comb right has always been one of the hardest things for me to do , know matter what breed I have been working with. Out of all of the Giants I have , not one has a good 6 point comb.

I would then try to find pullets or hens with good lacing to breed to the back to the one with the good comb. I have found getting feathering and body style right is easier than the comb.

Also, you probably already know this but, judges like this breed to look like a round ball, almost no back.

thank you for the tips....do you guys just think that maybe number 1 is a late developer or what...i just cant figure out why its comb is such a pale color...thats what threw me off from the get go

hmmm......i was hoping its bc when i first got him i called him a she and now that its a he...maybe if i start calling him that hell start to look like one haha.....yea right....some vaseline will fix that right up for photo shoots haha

The drying out thing isn't what's getting me...it's just that it's so much paler than the other male of the same age. Makes me think there's something wrong with him. If there's something making him weaker...passing that on to the offspring might not be a good idea.

I mean, it could just be some bad food or something he got, or the other one is chasing him away from the feed, etc. Who knows?

the other one is in charge....but the pale one has always been this way since i got him last year at the end of November....they were 2 mos old then and bc of the comb thing and such we were thinking pullet, but only recently has it gotten bigger, but not much darker....the bright red combed one just started crowing (or making noise i should say...i should hardly call that a crow), but this one hasnt and one of the reasons i think is bc is lower on the pecking order. Should I separate them? They do love to be together....would appreciate opinions! thanks!
