I disagree--my OEGB are definitely my smartest chickens! They really surprise me sometimes.

I'll agree with silkie (my silkie can't figure out to go inside at night and gets wet/snowed on all the time), or buff orpington. My buff orpingtons think they're guinea fowl and the only thing in the whole world they seem to notice is food.

That said, I love all my birds, dumb or not.

My trouble is that my rooster's not so bright, but the ladies of his same breed seem to be pretty sharp XD Go figure. Maybe it's just the testosterone.

I wish EE were on the list. We have an EE pullet and her name is actualy Slow for a reason.

My vote would be for EE.
Here is Slow

I only have experience with wyandottes, australorps, and EE so my knowledge is limited about any others.

I have had several of the breeds on the list and a friend of mine gave me a few polish (I do trim their head feathers so they can see) but they are not the brightest light in the box!

I have leghorns, wyandottes, cochins, barred rocks, ee's, RIRis, light brahma and mixed breeds. I promise none of them will ever pass the SAT! Which is the dumbest appears to vary with the day of the week. If someone finds a truly smart one, let me know!

For all of you who think your breed has a pretty low wattage light bulb, just for kicks, get a cornish X. Serious! They are so ......not bright that they are actually funny. The waddle they get once they get a little older just adds. When the humor has wore off, eat it. Serious!

Faverolle's need to added to the list! My faverolles are far from the brightest crayons in the coop. When the alpha roo calls all the hens under the trees, the two faverolle hens look around "Oh..what's that noise?" and don't get the clue. The JG roo (the alpha) will NOT get them. The Faverolle rooster has to get them...which is kinda like the blind leading the blind.

My JG roo acts like..."there on their own!".

our BO's are so smart its scary....you can SEE the little wheels turning...and when Gloria <BO> and Camilla <Plymouth White Rock> team up they can get into heaps of trouble!

Gloria is extremely smart for a chicken...you can sit and watch her and her sister working out the problem in their little birdbrains.

Now Dumb? I would have to say my one EE Buffy. She is not the crispiest fry in the box if you know what I mean. It takes her a bit of time to figure out stuff...I just shake my head at her. Shy, flighty little thing...but my goodness she is just not all there. She would be a Valley Chicken if she could! You can actually watch her going off on a chicken tangent when outside lol its hilarious....

She is a total blonde stereotype lol You can almost hear her going "Like OMG that is like soooooo like totally OMG y'know? Camilla...like, is the like sky like totally falling or like what? Like OMG!!! That rain stuff is like totally wet and stuff... like ewww totally gross!"" Complete with vacant stare....she tries so hard to think but I dont think she can do that and breathe at the same time with only 1 or 2 working brain cells. We actually have looked to see if the muffs on her cheeks are feathers or smoke coming out from the thought processes.

Priorities you know. Poor little thing...hence the name Buffy lol She so lives up to the name....
