Which end of the egg comes out first?

Saw a video of a parakeet laying it was large end first. Had alway thought small end first because the eggs I removed from egg bound birds.

Now I am thinking both ways, just to many video of different birds laying small end first. For it to be only from overweight birds.

The large end comes out first. I just won a prize on The Chicken Whisperer Radio Show for answering this correctly!

Congratulations on your prize-winning answer! Did you learn the answer here first, or had you already known somehow else?

Throughout the passage through the oviduct, the egg leads with its pointed end. Just before it is layed, the egg rotates so the blunt end comes out first. Gail Damerow Storeys Guide to Raising Chickens
