so i notice big $10 price swings in different bags of layer pellets, purina is more expensive than growers pride at tractor supply. Question is which makes better eggs??!!
SO which brand is best regardless of money

For my mixed age flock (6 months to 3 years old), I feed them all Purina Flock Raiser crumbles. As long as you're feeding your flock a nutritionally balanced made-for-chickens feed, along with free choice oyster shell and grit, you should get good quality eggs!

I also think feed choice is just personal preference and chicken preference too. My chickens don't like Nutrena feed for some reason, but really enjoy Purina feed.

Mine, will not touch Dumors feed from TSC.
Therefore, I feed Purina Layena Pellets with Omega. The pellets are shorter in size compared to the regular Layena pellets.
Their egg shells are hard with a good shape and color and the yoke is a nice deep yellow with a rich flavor.
My girls love it! So do we. Lol
To save money to get started, join the poultry Purina feed challenge. Purina will send you coupons.
I tried all the feed types and sizes to figure out which one they really liked.
The Purina Layena with Omega won.
Good luck!
