Which Hatchery to Choose?

Thanks for the input...

Math Ace- Im located in the space coast... (cocoa area...)

DON"T GET FROM MEYER!!! I have purchased chicks from there and they are NOT good quality! All the Delawares I received were of Columbian feather pattern and the GL Wyandottes have large combs and the "laced" pattern is really bad with lots of solid black feathers. And then again one of my favorite birds came from this hatchery, her name is Elsie and she is supposed to be a Delaware but is totally wrong. But she has lots of personality

follows me around when I do chores and jumps up on my lap whenever I sit down. If you just want laying go ahead, but not good feather quality.

My barred rocks, welsummers and salmon favorelles came from Ideal. They are nice.
One of the favorelles had a severly crooked beak. The silkies were not good.
They didn't send the correct amount of favorelles I ordered (and thought I paid for)
and they did not call and ask if I would like substitutes. They did adjust the invoice though.

I stopped buying from them this year. I got EEs - two shipments in a row, Spring and Fall - with crooked toes in about 15% of them. They lay well, and the eggs are a nice shade of blue. But I sell started pullets (as layers, not show quality) and sometimes buy extra chicks to supplement my hatches. Crooked toes just won't do for selling to others. I kept those as layers only...can't breed them either, of course.

I've been looking for partridge cochins. I just purchased some from a show breeder. I know what my cochin roo looks like and she sent me pics of her partridge cochin roo and ours are FAR more colorful with distinct coloring than the Meyer partridge cochins. Theirs look muddy (color not actual mud) and rather bland compared to what they should look like. Granted, it could have been the camera, but you should be able to see distinct red/black and metallic green on a partridge color.

Not Murray McMurray. I've lost plenty of chicks from them (got 26 once, went down to 12.) gotten SO many crossbreds (Their Araucana/Americanas are just Easter Eggers, but what hatchery doesn't lie about that?) also, my "Brahmas" were Sussex crosses, their New Hampshire Reds are often production reds, and the health of their birds isn't always the best. I'm talking crooked beaks, curled toes, small size (My Brahmas are 5 pounds at the maximum. . .They're supposed to be 9 pounds. ) and their Turkens are NOT cold hardy. I've lost ALL of my Turkens from them because of that, and it honestly doesn't get very cold out here. .

But then again, I wouldn't recommend any hatchery. . .
