    Okay back in the summer time I order from a hatchery for the first time. I got the Brown Egg Layers Special from Murray McMurray Hatchery. It was around $50 for 25 chicks (plus they threw in an extra and all were females!) and the shipping was reasonable. Also I got all the chicks vaccinates for Coccidiosis and Marek's. All chicks have since grown into healthy birds (I lost 4 but it was to a dog and it had nothing to do with their health or condition). The others are doing great and most have started laying. This early spring I'm wanting to order some more chicks but I'm wanting specific breeds like Dominiques, Speckled Sussex, Cuckoo Marans, and such. These breeds aren't included in the brown egg layers special.

    Here's my dilemma:

    Both Murray McMurray and Meyer Hatchery have the exact breeds I want. The price difference between the 2 are $35. Murray McMurray is a little bit higher on each chick, plus when you get a custom assortment like what I'm wanting, they charge a hefty price for it. Meyer is much cheaper, but here is the thing, they don't offer vaccinations. I haven't found anything on their website that states they give any kind of vaccination or offer it. I guess my question is which Hatchery should I pick? I would rather the birds be vaccinate but also I'm worried about getting the correct order. I've heard some people on here complain about not getting what they ordered. So if you have had experience either good or bad with either hatchery in custom assortment orders, I would love to hear from you too.

    Thanks for the replies in advance!

    Email Meyer Hatchery and see if they offer any vaccinations or you could vaccinate them yourself over here the vaccines are quite cheap not sure of US prices though [IMG]

    Chick Order Companies

    When ordering chicks from big companies you will rarely find them deseased. If you are buying 50 chickens or less you do not need to vaccinate really at all.
    order sexed chicks and they say 90% chance of hens only for .50 cents. try;

    Well, before I ordered from a hatchery back in early November, I did alot of research on the internet about many different hatcheries. All of them will come with good comments and a few complaints. I finally settled on Welp Hatchery because they had all the different breeds I was wanting. The total price on 36 chicks was $105 shipped and all. Welp got the hatch date correct and they were here 2 days later. They came healthy looking and they are all still alive 4 1/2 weeks later. We had a good experience with Welp and would definitely use them again. Just my opinion.

    Type "vaccination" into Meyer's site search window. You'll find they do offer Marek's and the pricing is listed there.

    Okay, I just looked again. I must have overlooked the part where I check for vaccination. One of the most important reasons I want to order from Meyer is cause of the shipping. I live in Kentucky and they are located in Ohio.

    I ordered from Cackle Hatchery here in Missouri. I only wanted a couple birds of diffferent breeds except the Easter Eggers of which I wanted 4, (they thru a 5th extra Easter Egger for free.) They were very accommodating. They also vaccinated for Mareks. They've all grown into beautiful, healthy birds that give me a rainbow color of eggs. I am fortunate to live close enough to pick them up myself and if I get my way I'll do it again.[IMG]
