Which Hatchery's Marans Lay the Darkest Eggs?

Here are the three girls Each one is slightly different looking.
This one wouldn’t stop running around

These are the other two.

And I have a couple pictures of the male as well. Unfortunately my two male NN roosters bullied him off the roosts this winter during a major cold spell He was the sweetest and most gentle little roo.

My daughter was devastated. He was her baby.
I haven’t told her yet, but I ordered another male for her And the aggressive roosters will be leaving so this doesn’t happen again.

I can never get enough of seeing baby chicks. Haha.

Oh, and one thing I do want to mention… One of my girls had fused toes on both feet when I got her. Sounds awful, but was very easily fixed and healed up really well. From what I read at the time it sounded like it was something this breed can be prone to. So just be sure to check their little feet when they arrive

Just noticed you said you had a roo too if the black tail red maran ? Was he also from cackle?

Yes. The last two pictures I have in my post are the male and he was from cackle. The male I’ll be getting this year will be from cackle too. I really like males temperament. Very calm and friendly.

Oh ok did you specifically order a male or they sent you some hens and a male on accident?

I ordered some lavender Ameraucana hens earlier this year and specifically ordered a male with them.

I specifically ordered 3 female and one male. The male came marked so I’d know which one he was. So far all the gender specific birds I’ve ordered from them have be correct And ones I haven’t specified either turned out to be all female or one male out of 3.

That’s great! I notice their color range is different and wonder if that’ll change as they lay more consistently….

I think so One of the two is already laying a darker shade then her first egg.

Awesome. Yeah my olive egger’s first egg was lighter then the rest dark olive.
