So I am looking to get an incubator so I can order some Quail eggs. I had no idea they were so expensive. I clicked on one of the Brinsea adds on this website, and the one I wanted (Ovation 56 EX) is almost $600! There scratched, dented, or used for demo purposes section has them at $479.

Ouch, that's a lot more than I would have thought. The Hovabator 1588 (I think that was the model) is over $200 with the egg turner. I read some concerning reviews on this model, and others stated that it works ok but you need to keep a very close eye on the temps/humidity.

Is there a good quality inexpensive model that you would recommend?

My favorite incubator is Brinsea's Mini Advance Incubator. It's not super cheap, but better than $600! Sometimes you can find them on eBay for less than $100 or just a little over. I always get very high hatch rates with mine. It comes with a turner, as well, and once you get the hang of it, it's easy to program.

The max for quail eggs is about 12 though. It comes with a turning tray that fits 7 regular chicken size eggs, but they sell a 12 egg one for quail and other small eggs separately. I use it for my seramas, which are about the same size as quail.

I have several incubators.

I have the older brinsea octagon 20s. They are discontinued but can be found on eBay used. They are very much a set and forget til hatch incubator. I like these a lot.

I have 2 1588s. 1 digital and 1 with dip switches. For a styro they are top of the line. Temp swings are not much of an issue these . Hatched 100s if birds in these.

Had a few lgs. I don' t recommend this type. Could write alot of issues i found.

I now went to cabinets incubators. 2 1202 sportsman and a 1502 sportsman.

I personally am a GQF snob lol. I've tried the brinsea incubators and absolutely hated how hard they were to clean and had trouble with humidity. Here is one that's awesome and a decent price. I have the same one and is extremely reliable.

The one I have was my main incubator until I found a GQF cabinet incubator. This one is still used weekly though as my hatcher and has never given me any trouble.

I use a GQF cabinet knock-off(home made). This past spring I had so many pheasant eggs and no more room left in the cabinet, that I bought a foam bator. Farm Innovators, model 4250. I was very impressed with the quality, how it held temp and humidity. Set it up and within 30min. it had stabilized, and held temp at 99.5 for 24hrs. so I set my eggs. It has a plastic shell around the foam, which I liked, it's easy to clean and helps stabilize the temp. I hatched around 200 chicks from this bator. It's not real cheap for a foam bator $129 plus tax at TSC but definitely worth the $$$
