Which is better at absorption, straw or pine shavings?

I'm looking to ditch these puppy pads! I'm going through WAY too many a day and in the morning the smell is unreel! So, which would be a better choice? Straw or pine shavings?

Pine shavings have that pine scent that kind of evens out the duck smell, however I'm not sure which one is more absorbent.

The Pine Flakes work great for our runners.

I use straw in their house and shavings in the nest boxes.
