Which is better, pre-made coops, or a home-made coop?

My mother wanted to know if a pre-made plastic and wood coop was better than a home made wooden coop. I have two chickens but I want them to be happy without sacrificing too much space or money. Which is better?

Home made wooden coop is better IMO. The pre-made ones don't weather so well from my experience. Plastic heats up in the sun too.
