Which kind?????And will they get along???

Hello- New to the forum and chicken raising, I am currently working on a remodeled lean to shed and have been reading many helpful tips here, on the net and books and magazine articles - I think I'm ready = ? is that with all of the varieties available I am kind of partial to Favoralles, Wyandottes and Orpintons,. I live in Northern Minn. so I picked some cold hardy breeds ( 45- windchills tonight). I am favoring Favoralles and wondering which breed would be a good mix i.e friendly, not bullying and general just getting along.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

All the breeds you have mentioned are pretty docile. I am partial to the Orps...Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorps. These are quite hardy in any climate, gentle, great layers and all around fun breeds to keep. No matter what breed you choose, make sure to give them as much room as you can afford to prevent aggression and cannibalism. 5 sq ft per bird in the coop, 10 sq ft per bird in the run.

Welcome to BYC. Faverolles (except for @DobieLover's rooster ) are generally mild mannered birds. Orpingtons also fit this mold. Sometimes Wyandottes can get a bit bossy, but raised together all should be fine.

Thanks for all your replies and help - My coop ended up to be 20 x 8 with a cozy nesting area, electricity and insulated with a 30x30 run, I'm thinking of about 15 chickens for a fun hobby, if I get more eggs than we can eat I'll just give them to neighbors - Thanks all for your help
