Salmon Favs!!!!!

Are the Favs good winter layers? if they are sweet and lay ok i would get some to keep with the bantams...they look cute! Sexlinks are boring, and my red sexlinks didn't live long...too stressed churning out that many eggs.

Golden comets. I have just two now and would get more if I had space - they are very friendly, hardy, lay daily and so very much fun with their outgoing personalities.
They were 4H chicks so they got mauled by little hands as chicks, then just loved being handled from that point forward. Def. go with the golden comets and handle them alot.

I agree! we have Red Star girls(a.k.a golden comets) and one started laying at maybe a little earlier than 4 months!!!!!!! They are great layers! Very sweet, too. And just because people say that they lay too many eggs and they die from stress, it doesn't mean that it's true for the breed. It depends on how they are handled, raised, fed, etc. I would recommend this breed for anyone!

Yes, Salmon Favs are cute and friendly too, but if you want lots of eggs, go with the red star/golden comet(two dif. names, same breed)

and they are VERY hardy. also, if you don't want any broody hens, Red Stars rarely go broody. BTW rhode island red roosters go well with this breed, we have noticed. Our girls will be mean to our cochin rooster, but they go great with the RIR rooster.

laying eggs daily, too. our red star ladies lay medium- X large eggs, tan or brown colored. They can be early bloomers, too. awesome breed!

RED STARS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!

I think i'm going with the Golden comets because they go broody(I want some broody hens), the lay lots of eggs:cd, and because they look nice with the white and red color:D
