Hello everyone 😀 I have some bielefelder chicks that hatched from shipped eggs and I am trying to keep the best male(s).

There is one that is lighter (yellow ocher?) than the rest of the males but the stripe is really light. Would the darker males be a better German standard?

Also I think I have a silver male (bottom pic), does this happen within the bloodlines? Or maybe a cross with a silver bielefelder? Or..? Lol Should I keep him?

German Standard:
"Down coloring of the day-old
chicks:
Cockerels: yellow ocher with light brown dorsal stripes and white barring on the head"

Thank you for your time.

You won’t be able to tell at this age because they change so much. If I want to consider a cockerel for breeding I wait until they are at least 9 months before I make the decision. If I am being really picky I wait until they are 12-18 months because even then they can change so much. One might have what appears to be the better conformation at 12 months, but then at 18 the other fills out even more beautifully than the first and ends up the better of the two.
