I have bought 2 thermometers recently. This one reads 95.2 at the top of eggs. I put the sensor in a cup of ice water and it went to 33.1.

This one is stuck to the viewing glass and reads 99.3 to 100.7.

What do yall suggest. I am on day 5 in a LG no fan with turner.

Well the one on the top of the bator is going to be hotter than the one you have at egg level or below. If you are using the LG still air you want it to be about 101 in there. That is at egg level. I wouldn't suggest putting the therm on the plastic viewers as you are not getting the temp you are needing to measure. Bring it down and set it next to one of the eggs and see how they compare then

In a still-air, you're going to want to take a temperature from egg level... So your first thermometer is likely correct. And your temperatures, then, are really low! 101.5 is best for still-air incubators. Up near the heating element the temperature will be much higher because there is no fan to circulate the air and keep the temperatures even.

I feel like such a dork. I should have known better.

Im going to put the suction one at egg level and see what it says. If i take a plastic egg and drill a hole in the big end and insert the sensor into the egg and fill with hair gel should it work like the wigglers. Will the gel hurt the sensor?

Sorry to hijack this post but I have a glass thermometer that came with the LG bator. I layed it on top of the eggs in the bator. Is this considered egg level? Should I be checking elsewhere for the temp?

Just use a ziplock bag and some rubber bands and put the sensor between the layers of the bag that will be a better wiggler. Don't put chemicles in the bator that don't need to be there. Just remember if you are doing that with the temp/hydro you wont get a good humidity reading.

Megnchicks: That therm is known to be off so make sure it is reading correctly before using it, And yes laying it on top of the eggs you want it to read 101.5
