I've got 3 full-grown white turkeys. For sure one is a girl. And I think one of the others is another girl. The other one, I'm not sure about. I need to know how to tell the difference between the males and females. I need to know that I won't have butchered one of my girls...

I've got these pics if they will help..

I've heard that males will turn blue on the head and neck, but Pearl, my little girl turns blue and her wattles turn blood red also.

Thanks OmaBird...
After reading this, I'd say that I have 3 girls. I found out for sure I have 2, since I got TWO turkey eggs today! All of my turkeys have "beards" so I know that's not a real reliable signal of a male, but my turkeys don't strut.

right, hunting seasons in our area you have to be careful not to take a bearded hen until i think the fall season. i'm not a hunter but i never knew that fact till i read the hunting season book they have in the sporting goods at the stores.

They are old enough to lay eggs if that means anything.

Thanks for your input Oma but I was asking the OP if they were BBW.

Steve

Steve, I have no idea what breed they are.. We were given them by someone who caught them. The lady caught these 3 out of 6 she saw. The other 3 got killed by a pack of dogs. We've had them only about a month. Pearl started laying 2 weeks ago, and another one started laying today, so I'm assuming they're at least 30 weeks?? They weren't in the best of shape when we got them, but they're looking better by the day.

But I do want to say, that when I sex them based on looks alone, I'm right 50% of the time, too
