I like # 2. Over 70 years ago I hived a dark colored swarm like # 1. They turned out to be ferociously nasty. I soon requeened them with a Golden Italian queen.

Oh, you're also a beekeeper! I love meeting other beekeepers. The swarn #1 actually wasn't aggressive, so we didn't have to change the queen, but sadly the swarm didn't survive the winter because it was a very late swarm.
