Which pullet laid this egg?

This is where common sense comes in. Go with aart on this one if there is a need. No need at this time. If the color of the egg does not first match the hen. No need to traumatize both owner and hen further.
Last word here on examining a birds backside....it needn't be 'traumatic' for either bird nor keeper. It's good to get to know your birds anatomy and get them used to handling and examination all over their bodies. I pull my birds and give them the once over every couple weeks or so, looking for bugs and any other issues. They get used to it and are fine with it. Apologies to @Sandstorm for diverting your thread.

I took some screenshots of the barnevelder egg pictures that I've seen and I'm attaching them.
Keep in mind pics online are of the bestest eggs, advertisements do not always match the product in your hands. Every bird and line of birds differ...hope for the best, be ready for the worst.

Honestly I'm hoping its the Barnevelders because I really hope my Marans eggs are darker like the one she came out of.. But maybe my memory is playing tricks and they weren't as dark as I think I remember lol. I really wish I could find those pictures. Thank you everyone who replied.

Well I am sure you will sort it out. Maybe peak in at time you think they are laying to see who is in the nest. I can only go by the resource I found but maybe both have varying degrees of this color egg and you may have to face you may not know right away. The Maran you have to complicate matters lays dark when first laying and that’s the darkest I have seen and will have periods where it goes lighter again then darkens around rest periods. So when the egg color changes to lighter brown than one shown it may more closely resemble a Barnevelder color.

No problem. I'm a new chicken owner and I have learned so much from this site. I would rather be prepared in advance then not know what to do when a situation comes up. So any and all advice given on here I'm so grateful for. It has helped me a lot.

I love my babies so whatever color their eggs are is fine with me as long as they are happy and healthy. They all taste the same anyways... But still hoping. (I never thought I would get so excited over an egg lol my husband thinks I'm crazy.)

I think the same pullet laid this egg. This is more like how dark the eggs were that my black copper Maran chicks hatched from. Its got to be my black copper Marans egg.
