Which roo to keep? (with pics and descriptions)

We did the same thing about a month ago. I am NOT sorry that we chose the least aggressive rooster. He has claimed his place since the other 2 left, but is NOT aggressive. His personality too has developed and he is friendly for a rooster.

Get rid of #1 first and see how the other 2 act. My first instinct was to go with roo #2, because he sleeps with you hens and you free range- seems like he would be the better protector.

I don't have a ton of experience with roos, but it really depends on what you want. If your flock freeranges most of the time, as you said, you may want to consider keeping the aggressive one - he might be a better protector of your flock if a predator came near. Roo #3 definitely sounds too sheepish to protect them. Then again, I had a very aggressive roo one time that gave me many scars on my legs from his spurs. I worked with him a LOT to calm him down, but it didn't work. However, I gave him to a woman who had several hens, no roo, and she freeranged them (I do not). She has kept him, and he's been absolutey NO trouble for her whatsoever. so, I guess in the end, like I said, it really depends on what your intention is for him and your flock. Good luck! purely on looks, I sorta like the dude with the 3 stray red feathers on his chest! Kinda different!

I would keep the #2 roo. #1 seems aggressive and #3 shys away from the others.

I got a banty rooster so I wouldn't have to deal with an oversized, aggressive rooster. I don't hatch eggs so it didn't matter that he was small. I just like him around to protect his girls and to hear him crow.

Hi, you have beautiful birds

If it were me I would keep #2, he has the most pleasing proportions to me and I would rather have a Roo that isn't scared of me then one who runs away all the time!

Definitely don't keep #1, If he is aggressive, it may only get worse after the other two are gone.

Good luck with your decision!

First, your roos are gorgeous

I'd get rid of #1. He's too aggressive.
I'd keep #2. He's large, sleeps with the hens and seems like he'd be a good protector.
I'd get rid of #3 as well. Too skittish. He'd probably flee from the danger before warning anyone LOL.

Good luck with your decision!
