I have one Barred Rock cockeral that is 9 weeks old. He is always the first one to come up to me and he seems to take care of the hens well. When there is a fight, he pecks one of the chicks to break it up. Sometimes when I am in the coop, he stares me down. He also seems to be the head boss of the roosters.

I have four other silver-laced wyandotte roos that are the same age. They normally run away when I come in the coop, but they still treat the hens nicely.

I don't know which rooster to keep.
    Any Advice.

I'd rather a roo be frightened of me to tell you the truth. A un-afraid roo could attack a person easier. That's just my opinion though.

A roo that is "cocky" already at 9 weeks is likely to get worse with age. If you are not selecting for breeding purposes (in which case you should select based on their physical perfection as well as behavior), pick a nice, well-grown roo that is not pushy but respects your space.

When is the best time to "send" him away?
