Which Sand for Run?

The sand at the cement yard is from those quarries. I get it a yard at a time for my projects. Cement place is only 1 mile from my home.

I wrote this;
What are the options when there is no quarry near your area.
Like for the thread starter, or others reading,,,,, that need to get bags at Home-centers.

Hi - am new to raising backyard chickens. Have a small flock of 4 young hens in an Omlet Cube. It’s winter here, and they’re doing very well. However we’ve recently had some snow (melted) and rain - the area where we have our coop and walk-in run is under a large tree to provide shade in the summer. Unfortunately this shade prevents grass so the area was getting muddy. Came across this thread and ran out and got several bags of All Purpose Sand (medium and coarse l). Not quite as fine as play stand. Became a bit nervous reading about risk of impacted crops so I added a layer of all purpose sand and gravel on top of it hoping they’ll mix it in. This sand mixture has already made a world of difference with cleanup and moisture control. Our hens seem happier and curiously digging and scratching. We keep them in the run when we aren’t home to let them free range. Appreciate all the advice!
