Which sand to get for run

I need to redo my chicken run as it is full of mud and have had so much rain it is not very nice to walk in to. Can anyone advise on which type of sand is best to use? I have been told sand is best.

you can just use sandbox sand

I would highly recommend washed construction sand. It's more course, and less of an breathing irritant than the finer stuff. I've heard sandbox sand might not be the best due to some chemicals added for coloring, etc...

Use wood chips, and other dry plant material.
First fix any water run off and/or drainage issues in the run.

I got fill sand. It was cheap and it smells so much better than the mud. No problems so far.
