Which thermometer do I believe??

Good afternoon,

I’ve got a Brinsea Mini Advance that is set to 37.5 and today I’ve added a small hygrometer to measure the humidity. It’s showing 55% humidity but it’s only saying 35.5 on the temp Which one do I believe? Shall I turn the temp up on the incubator? Thank you

Have you calibrated the thermometer? It's best to have at least two calibrated thermometers, so you have a range to base off from. I would get a few more thermometers if you can.

I personally would trust the Brinsea. They are pretty good quality incubators.

Thank you! I only got the hygrometer to check the humidity as I didn’t have one, it was only cheap so I’m sure it won’t be as good as the incubator. It’s just confused and worried me even more

It's also possible that they're BOTH correct. I would hope that a Brinsea would have pretty even temperatures, but I discovered too late that my off-brand forced air incubator has wildly different temperatures in different spots.
I had some egg carton cups with the bottom cut out to help position my shipped eggs at the start, and later used those to elevate my thermometers to roughly egg height. I had two identical thermometers separated by only one empty spot reading FOUR degrees different. I was sure one was broken, but just to be sure I swapped them. Same result.
So, your hygrometer may just be telling you the temp of a different spot in the incubator.

Aah okay, I get this! The Brinsea thermometer is obviously up higher than the small one I’ve added, and it’s the smaller one reading the lower temp so makes sense! Thank you

I bought an 'Incutherm' brand thermometer hygrometer from Incubator Warehouse, after 2 cheaper ones didn't agree. The company claims theirs is one of the most accurate available. It cost about $15.
