Hello! I purchased and hatched a few eggs earlier this year, and I wanted to ask for opinions on a couple breeds. The two opal legbars we hatched are roosters, and a copper maran is a rooster. We would only like to keep one rooster and noticed them already challenging each other (which right now is kinda cute because they are so little, 7 weeks), so we need to find new homes for two of the roosters. Do you have a personal preference of breed between the opal legbar and black copper maran? Which one is nicer to hens, people, kids, better protector? I understand all roos are different personality wise, but I wasn't sure in general. Thank you!
And so far from what I have noticed, one of the opal legbars stares down the black copper maran. They stand there and stare at each other, then they hop on each other. After a few hops, the BC maran just walked away. The third roo, the other opal legbar, just stood next to the other legbar kinda staring at the BC maran, but he didn't do anything. The two legbars seem to get along (for now).
I also noticed if I walk by the fence that the two legbars run away from me if I am close, and the BC maran kinda walked away like he wasn't too afraid but didn't want to be close. I don't know if that means he might be friendlier or not afraid and be more apt to challenge...
We have a 1.5 year old son, so we didn't want a rooster breed that has potential/reputation of being aggressive.
