"I-I'm fine, well I mean... My leg hurts and I think they sprained my front paw. This is no good, how am I going to survive? Those cats- they- they..." She broke into sobs, and sat down to get control of herself.
“It’s fine,” he mewed, trying to sound reassuring, he offered his shoulder for support. “We’ve got to get back to camp.”

Cricket turned to face Raven with her tufty ears and fluffed breeches. "So black," she echoed amicably and fixed her attractively grouchy eyes on the reluctant center of attention. "Why don't you let Lightning have a go at you?"
Raven looked slightly appalled. As far as she was concerned, Cricket was a nut job.

"I know, but you must understand. These cats are evil, they-they're out to kill me. I know we have to go back to camp, but maybe I shouldn't... I'm useless, I've only managed to get injured... And these cats are here for me, if I let them have me, they won't hurt cats. They won't hurt........ you." She finished and looked at the ground as her tears and blood mixed.

Poor Lion didn’t understand the meaning of her words, as she poured her feelings into them, or how to comfort her, but he knew you never leave a tribe mate behind. So he helped her to her feet, his shoulder supporting her. And they made slow, but steady progress towards camp.

Embers leaned against him and felt his heart beat against her. "Thank you, but what do-do I do?"

“That,” he began, “is a question only you can answer.”
She nodded and looked on ahead and mewed, "If I give myself up, will you please look after yourself for me? I know that many cats think you're important. You are- very...very important. Please take care of yourself and don't go after Shadow... Sh-she's my sister and she took over a rogue camp. She wants to kill em for leaving and coming here. Please just leave her be, if I go..."

He nodded, but mewed, “I can’t promise anything.”
