We've got a bright orange Harrier where we live and it will just sit in a tree and stare at a squirrel nest. There's also various hawks, but I've had no hawk problems since Molly the Pyrenees came along.

It's a-okI didn't even look at your location.
Also, nice bird book.A Marsh Hawk is a Northern Harrier, that’s what we call them in the South. They do hover like what you described. They have the shape of a falcon but bigger.

This is my bird book. It was owned by my dad so that is the reason why it is in bad shape. It was published in 1980 and cost $15.95. I need a new book too. Thanks! It was published in 1966. I think I need to upgrade but I just can’t find a good quality bird book for $3.95.

You can say that again, when I saw it up close, apart from the fear of it hurting my chickens, it was so beautiful and graceful. It had such bright yellow eyes and blazed with intelligence. Good thing is that it won't hurt by chickens, so yay.Wow that's a beauty of a bird.
