Ah, this thread again...I do enjoy these. Someone asks a question...people answer a DIFFERENT question for 12 pages. :p

OP: "Can white bread be PART of a complete chicken diet?"

Replies: "No, white bread cannot be the ENTIRE diet of a chicken."

I mean, lots of things can be PART of a healthy diet...isn't that what they say in all the breakfast cereal ads "PART of a healthy breakfast"?! :gig

To be fair to the peeps that replied the first line of the first post and subsequent posts were asking about it being the MAIN PART of the diet.

My answer remains that it is nutritionally lacking to function as the main part of any diet for any species.

I don’t usually get bread when doing my food waste pickups, but this thread must have been on my mind when I picked up today. They had a couple trash bags full of bread set aside and I grabbed them.

These are more “artisan loaves” than Wonder bread, and I figured tossing them into the run would give the flock a little entertainment and a bit of variety.

Plus, it quickly reduced two large trash bags worth of landfill-bound “waste” to one grocery bag sized wad.
