I have a white silkie roo in my batam flock and I'lll adding a veriety of colored cochins. What effect does the white (and silkie feathering) have on such colors like: Mottled, partridge, buff, black, birchen, and blue.

The answer:
It depends.

If the silkie rooster is dominant white, some of the chicks will be white as well. Dominant white ONLY effects BLACK areas. So if you breed him to hens with red, the offspring will be white and red.

If it is recessive white, the only colors you will get from him will be the colors of the hens, mixed with whatever color he is that the white is covering up.
In other words, you have to know what kind of white he is.
Probably recessive white.
White hides alot of colors. He can be blue, but you cant see it for the white.

Red Shouldered Yokohamas are a classic example of what white does.
They are have mottled, spangled, Red, dominant white, and blue splash. The White Yokohamas have all that plus Recessive white, which also turns the red into white.

Have fun!
